Salem Distributing Company, Inc. Announces the NA Expansion of Flagship Partner, Ellettromeccanica Bovone, Srl.
Salem is excited to announce the US branch of Bovone will open in 2020 close to Salem’s headquarters in NC. The expansion to the US of the Italian company will streamline exchanges between the glass fabrication machinery manufacturer Bovone and its distributor-partner, Salem. Within the product lifecycle management process, this move will make it easier and faster to integrate data for robotics, prepare and install machinery, and service customers in the entire North American market.
This expansion provides an enormous opportunity for Salem, through two of its divisions -SALEM Flat Glass & Mirror and SALEM Stone, to better serve customers and provide innovative machinery solutions to the glass and stone industries. Doug Mangus, Machine Sales Director for Salem, states: “Bovone is known in the marketplace to be the heavyweight when it comes to glass processing equipment and robotics. Its expansion to the US will enable our teams to become more efficient and responsive in both sales and technical support.”
The intended benefit of the expansion is to significantly enhance Industry 4.0 development in which Salem has been involved for years. Numerous robots and glass processing cells have been installed across the US reducing labor costs and risks for fabricators. With forecasts of increased interest and sales into 2020, Mike Willard, CEO of Salem, says “Together on US soil, our companies can more fully leverage and integrate new and existing machinery with enhanced technology. This will benefit our customers in streamlined processes for faster production and little downtime -exactly what they’ve been asking for these past years. “
Salem, itself has recently grown with the acquisition of HHH Tempering Resources. With an expanded line of equipment and tooling offerings, along with a growing technical service and support presence, Salem is one of the largest companies of its kind in the industry.

SALEM Flat Glass & Mirror invites you to discover the most compact, hi-tech vertical CNC work center in the industry – the DENVER ADVANCE PLUS. This all-in-one, true vertical alternative to horizontal work centers is capable of edging, notching, countersinking and polishing (optional). Ideal for “quick turnaround” production, this zero set up machine has 100% uptime with its continuous “flow” capability.
SALEM also brings you the ELB 10/45 edger/miterer from BOVONE. The ELB 10/45 is designed to produce flat edges or 0° to 45° miters, both cerium polished, and has a two-wheel arris polish configuration. This 10 cup wheel edger is an industry heavyweight in its class and is able to handle up to 2,000 lb.
Visit SALEM at GLASSBUILD AMERICA in BOOTH #3135 to see live demonstrations of these machines and more, from exclusive industry partners, including painting and coating machines from CEFLA, the CHEMWEST particle removal system, the MISTRAL 180 EV sandblasting unit from FRATELLI PEZZA and the AZV MILL 1000 milling/drilling machine from ZAFFERANI GLAS.
SALEM, your dedicated supplier for cutting edge diamond tooling and supplies, introduces the ClickFit™. This revolutionary new system will save you significant amounts of production time. Instead of replacing the entire wheel, the base is attached to the machine separately while the actual grinding, edging or polishing wheel is replaced. Simply twist the wheel out of the base to remove it and then twist the new one into the locked position. The rotation of the wheel will keep it locked until it's time to replace it.
Also, browse our displays featuring a full line of tools, supplies and material handling equipment from SALEM and our partners – BDT®, KDRILLS, EVGUARD® by FOLIENWERK , WOOD'S POWR-GRIP® and more. Our featured products include diamond wheels, core drills, felt and composition polishing wheels, cerium oxide polishing compounds, CNC tooling, vacuum cups, vacuum lifters, etc. We can't wait to see you there!
